We are pleased to provide this Employee Services Manual. As changes occur, we will promptly incorporate them into our online version. While this handbook is designed to provide helpful information to employees, it is not to be construed as an employment contract of any kind. The statements contained in this handbook are intended to offer guidance but do not modify the terms of employment.
The Institute, at its discretion, may change, delete, suspend, or discontinue any or all parts of the policies in this handbook without prior notice. This handbook does not modify state or federal laws nor does it serve as legal advice.
Should any portion of this handbook be found unenforceable and deemed invalid, such finding shall not invalidate the entire handbook, but only the subject provision. Please also consult the established Institute Rules, your individual notice of appointment, and documents in your personnel file. We welcome your comments, suggestions, corrections, and questions regarding this manual and any suggestions for other areas that might be addressed appropriately in this manual. |

This Faculty Services Manual has been prepared for the convenience and information of the faculty members of the Cosmic Institute. This manual brings together those Institute laws, policies, procedures and other information items that apply, or might be of interest, to faculty members.
This manual is available only electronically on the Internet. While the organization of this manual is very similar to earlier paper editions, the format is different. Rather than including the excerpts of laws, policies, and other documents in the manual, the manual provides direct links to the actual laws, policies or other documents. |

Although the policies and other statements found here cover a wide variety of subjects, readers should be aware that there are other important policies and procedures specific to the Institute's colleges, schools, departments, and other academic units that should be consulted as the need arises.
The Faculty Services Manual cannot and is not intended to address all circumstances related to the faculty member's role in the Institute nor is the information contained in the Manual intended to constitute an express or implied contract of employment with the Institute.
Similarly, policies and procedures are regularly in the process of review and revision. The Institute expressly reserves the right to amend its policies and procedures from time to time as it determines to be in the best interest of the Institute. Such amendments, as well as any new policies deemed to be in the Institute's interest, will be effective as of the date of their enactment unless the action itself specifies a different effective date. |
