Cosmic Assessment and Testing (CAT) services

Cosmic Institute has carried out pioneering work in development of computer based testing for the first time in Pakistan. This covers a broad range of tools and technologies for which students can appear for exams after preparing on their own. The system is called Cosmic Assessment and Testing (CAT) Services.

The aim is to provide students with a platform at an international level to test their skills and knowledge and receive a certificate of accomplishment if successful. CAT has learnt from experiences from technology vendors and their initiatives for certification. The system is capable of testing skills such as understanding of principles, factual knowledge, conceptual knowledge, application of knowledge, and knowledge terms. CAT work on the pattern of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and generate random exams using desired probability distribution functions. The system is capable of generating questions from a data bank of thousands of high quality questions.

Academic context

CAT services are extensively utilized by Cosmic Institute to conduct assessment for their online students. The tests are conducted through a network of strategically spread CAT Service Providers across the globe.

Welfare context

CAT services in collaboration with Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) allow students to sit for exams at a nominal cost for free courses offered through HRDC website. Upon successful completion of the course, students can benchmark their skills using CAT and receive a certificate of accomplishment upon successfully passing the test.
